Here's a draft I found from May, 2009 - and I wanted you to see what I found while out garaging and thrifting with my dear, little mother. I think you will enjoy my pretties as much as I enjoyed reading about them again today. Here's what I wrote.
It's been awhile since I've shared some of my 'finds' with you. Believe me - I've been finding some wonderful things. Garage and yard sale season has begun in earnest here in our area. Each Friday my dear little mother and I do something together. Spring and Summer Fridays usually find us on the thrifting circuit. I thought I would share my finds with you each Friday (unless there is something special to share on that day). To start, here are two cute planters. One for Spring (and summer) - one for Thanksgiving.
Yellow finds - a yellow glass bowl with a unique shape, a yellow pottery planter, a yellow glass baking dish and a sweet little creamy yellow pitcher. On a recent trip to a nearby Goodwill store this treasure found its way into my shopping bag. I love this cake stand. It's smaller than some and so pretty. The top. . .And bottom details are so pretty.A few days ago I had just a few minutes to stop in at the Goodwill near where my care center ministry takes me each week. I was running a bit late and didn't have much time. After a quick look at a few favorite places in the store I came around the corner and found this plate. When I saw it I knew exactly what it was - the work of one of my favorite artists, Sandy Clough. I haven't decided where to hang it yet but you can be sure I will find a place. Just the right place.I love teacups! Recently I opened a pretty little container that had been stored away and 'found' this one inside. I forgot I had it and I can't remember where or when I first got it. Blown glass and yellow trim. It's tiny and cute.Next to my new yellow teapot you can see how small it is. Isn't it sweet? There are more finds to show you. I'll share them soon. And in the meantime I'm sure I'll find more.
If I come over for tea (inviting myself here - tsk tsk) can we please use the creamy yellow teapot and cake platter? I'll bring scones!
ReplyDeletePretty finds!
I love your yellow goodies. Yellow is my favorite color. So warm and cheerful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing pictures of some of your finds.
I've come for a visit!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely things you found. We just dont have garage sales like that in France, antique dealers, yes, but they are very expensive.
Your cake stand reminded me of my grandmother who had a very similar one for teatimes!
Isn't it fun to yard and garage sale? I went out today and found some neat things too! I love your yellow finds and especially love the cake stand - what a find! Thank you for sharing and have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteGod Bless You Adrienne,

I love your treasures---I'm especially fond of the cake plate (you can never have enough of those) and the darling little tea pot!
ReplyDeleteWonderful treasures, but the cake stand is my favorite. I have two cake stands that belonged to my husband's grandmother and they are dear to my heart.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful treasures you found! What a lovely cake platter. I found one at Good Will recently as well, and was very happy about it. They make everything look so pretty.

I have a cousin to your turkey planter...though year after year, he remains plant-less.

Great finds, love the crystal dish :)
ReplyDeleteYou certainly have found some treasures lately. How fun! As you know we have a shared love of yellow, so your yellow finds definitely jumped out and grabbed me.
ReplyDeleteMy...just a whole bunch of pretty things. I think my favorite is the teapot - very cute!
ReplyDeleteWonderful finds! I wish we were having garage sales now but they won't begin until March as the weather warms. The plate is so special. I really love it!
ReplyDeleteStill loving all these yellow pretties. Yellow has always been my favorite color.
ReplyDeleteoH, I love all your great finds. Nothing like finding something we love for just a few dollars.
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing with my drafts. They get buried and I have to go thru them ever so often.
I try to at least name them so I'll remember what I am thinking at the time. If I have photos, I type on the draft WHERE the pics are and that helps me to remember, too. :))
OH, I'm so glad you went back through your posts and found this. What lovely things you found. I'm sure you're using them all over the place!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I enjoyed seeing all your pretty finds, Adrienne. Thanks for sharing them with us. Hugs ~
