This morning we are leaving town for a few days. My dear little mother will turn 85 on Tuesday and we are taking her to the Oregon Coast for a few days. She recently had a heart attack - her 2nd through the last years. She is not well at all and her strength has been decreased very much. My sweetheart and I have rented a lovely home on the bluff above the ocean where we can sit and watch the waves through the windows. My dear mother is not strong enough for a big family celebration so we planned this trip for a special quiet time together. Just her, my sweetheart and I. She and I will visit an antique or thrift shop together. Slowly. One at a time with rest in between. We never know what a day will bring and we are trying to make each day special and value each moment together. That's what we should all do - always - all the time - with everyone in our lives. So I will be away for a few days and will share about our trip together when I return. Until then we will be talking and reminiscing much about our memories. Our precious memories.Precious memories, unseen angels,
Sent from somewhere to my soul;
How they linger, ever near me,
And the sacred past unfold.
Chorus
Precious memories, how they linger,
How they ever flood my soul;
In the stillness of the midnight,
Precious, sacred scenes unfold.
Precious father, loving mother,
Fly across the lonely years;
And old homescenes of my childhood,
In fond memory appears.
In the stillness of the midnight,
Echoes from the past I hear;
Old time singing, gladness bringing,
From that lovely land somewhere.
As I travel on life's pathway,
Know not what the years may hold;
As I ponder, hope grows fonder,
Precious memories flood my soul.
Song: "Precious Memories"
